Tallinn as an innovative financial service center was introduced to the representatives of international financial institutions at a formal dinner held on October 16 in the City of London. The event was held in cooperation with Enterprise Estonia, Tallinn City Enterprise Board, the British Embassy’s UKTI department and IFSL. Attendees discovered Tallinn to be very attractive.

"The main topic of the dinner was Tallinn as a financial services and products center. We have innovative products and services and the konwledge of the Central and Eastern European markets - it is important to introduce this to the world. London is definitely one of the best places for this," said Toomas Vitsut, Chairman of the Tallinn City Council.

"Of course there were concerns about the international financial crisis, but the crisis did not reduce interest in us.

I will only name a few: Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and others," added Mr. Vitsut.

A speech was also given by Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the President of Estonia, whose presence greatly added weight to the occasion.

In his greeting, Toomas Vitsut invited all attendees to an international conference which will be held on February 17, 2009. He also encouraged attendees to be involved in the creation of our new foundation, the "Tallinn Financial Services Centre".

Other presentations were given by Gert Stahl from Enterprise Estonia, Kristel Kivinurm-Priisalm from Avaron Asset Management, Tõnno Vähk from Gild Bankers and James Oates from Cicero Capital.

"The successful event in London was a great beginning to the good progress of our financial services centre. Now we must all work hard for this goal," noted Vitsut.
